چکیده

The sustainable management of household food waste (FW) and blackwater (BW) is becoming more challenging. This research investigated three different semi-continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) performances for digestion the mixture BW FW; producing biogas. Through application serial semi-CSTR (35 °C), produced biogas from BW-FW (1:1 proportion) offered to be higher than single 55 °C (25%) that 35 (31%). volume production was attributed extra generated residual organic matter volatile fatty acids decomposition existing in digestate first further utilized second-step methanogenic chamber. physicochemical parameters showed stable performance with total chemical oxygen demand reduction efficiency 97%, without inhibition at pH value 8.5 ± 0.9. advantages improving worth resources recovered FW accomplishing a percentage enhanced sludge stabilization water management.

Effect of Hydraulic Retention Time on Anaerobic Digestion of Wheat Straw in the Semicontinuous Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactors

Three semicontinuous continuous stirred-tank reactors (CSTR) operating at mesophilic conditions (35°C) were used to investigate the effect of hydraulic retention time (HRT) on anaerobic digestion of wheat straw. The results showed that the average biogas production with HRT of 20, 40, and 60 days was 46.8, 79.9, and 89.1 mL/g total solid as well as 55.2, 94.3, and 105.2 mL/g volatile solids, re...

Modelling and Adaptive Control of Aerobic Continuous Stirred Tank Reactors

A biotechnological aerobic process is modelled as an ordinary diierential equation which, under mild assumptions, ensures invariance of the positive orthant and bound-edness of the concentrations. An adaptive controller is designed for this general class of processes so that the external substrate can be regulated by the dilution rate into a prespeciied arbitrarily small neighbourhood of a cons...

The Port Hamiltonian approach to modeling and control of Continuous Stirred Tank Reactors

This paper proposes a thermodynamical pseudo Hamiltonian formulation of Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor model in which takes place some chemical reaction. This is done both in the isothermal and non isothermal cases. It is shown that the Gibbs free energy and the opposite of entropy can be chosen as Hamiltonian function respectively. For the non isothermal case, the so called Interconnection an...

The use of periodic operation to improve the performance of continuous stirred tank reactors

The influence of enforced periodic concentration variations on a continuous stirred tank reactor was studied theoretically. The unsteady-state-processing becomes advantageous under certain conditions. This can be shown for an irreversible consecutive-competing reaction. The yield and selectivitv of the intermediate oroduct can exceed the values obtainable at steady-state-processing in the menti...
